Tristan and Andrew Tate were detained in Miami on suspicion of rape and human trafficking in the UK. – On Saturday, July 18, in Miami, entrepreneur-turned-influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were taken into custody outside of a bareknuckle boxing match, according to British officials and their attorneys.
In an effort to extradite the Tates to the UK on numerous fresh charges of criminal wrongdoing, U.S. Marshals detained them outside the James L. Knight Center. As part of this intricate investigation, officers from our major crimes unit have been closely collaborating with the Crown Prosecution Service and national and international law enforcement agencies,” stated Karena Thomas, assistant chief constable in the Bedfordshire, England, police department.
“We understand the interest that this matter will generate, but we would urge the public not to speculate and to allow the legal process to be carried out correctly.”Male violence against women and girls has no place, and we will keep working nonstop to assist victims and look into any reports that are brought to our attention.”
The brothers now face 59 charges, including 42 against Andrew Tate, 39, and 17 against Tristan Tate, 38, according to British authorities who have the authority to file 38 new counts against them. Among the accusations include rape and organizing or assisting in the trafficking of people for sexual exploitation. In a statement, Malcolm McHaffie, head of the Special Crime Division at Britain’s British Crown Prosecution Service, said, “We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for additional offenses, including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, and offenses relating to indecent images of a child.”
Requests for comment were not immediately answered by the U.S. Marshals Service.
The Tates, who are dual nationals of the United States and Great Britain, have defended themselves against both previous and current accusations. In a statement issued on July 18, the brothers’ attorney, Joseph D. McBride, denounced the arrests. The innocence of Andrew and Tristan Tate is widely acknowledged. “Their adversaries are the ones who are most aware of it,” McBride stated. “That is exactly why they have been attacked.”McBride continued, “This is a political hit committed by a dying empire that fears two free men with a microphone far more than it fears actual criminals walking its streets.”
The Tate brothers have hundreds of thousands of fans on other platforms in addition to over 10 million on X. They publicly identify as misogynists and promote a kind of hypermasculinity.
Alongside former UFC champion Jon Jones, the Tates were scheduled to host the first event of the bareknuckle boxing promotion IBA Bare Knuckle, which is based in Russia. Instead, according to several media sources, the Tates were handcuffed outside the venue while British officials sought their extradition on allegations of sex trafficking and rape.
