A new poll reveals that Republicans’ approval of Trump declines ahead of the midterm elections. – Less than two months before the pivotal midterm elections in November, Republican supporters’ support for President Donald Trump declined in a recent survey.
Republicans who say they “strongly approve” of the president’s job performance have decreased by over 10 percentage points, according to an NBC News Decision Desk survey from August 20 to September 1. According to surveys done in March and April, 31% of Republicans said they somewhat approved of the president’s performance, while 52% said they highly approved. The percentage of Republicans who indicated they somewhat approve has increased to 39%, while 41% said they definitely approve.
Trump’s overall approval rating came in at 36%, a record low for NBC polling this term, according to the statistics, which were revealed by the network’s top data expert Steve Kornacki. Additionally, it is at a low of 33% in a poll conducted by Reuters last month.
The survey is being conducted as Americans prepare for the year’s last quarter amid worries about the economy and mounting ambiguity around the war in Iran.
Despite historical evidence indicating that the party holding the presidency usually loses seats in both the House and the Senate, Trump has expressed optimism about his party’s performance in the midterm elections.Voters seem to go the opposite way for some reason. During an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Nite In America With Trey Gowdy” on August 30, Trump stated, “I think we’re gonna do very well.”
Next week, Trump and Vise President JD Vance are scheduled to speak at the first-ever GOP midterm convention. Before the GOP goes on defensive in significant battleground states prior to election day, the two will try to energize voters in Dallas.
7,105 persons were polled online by NBC News between August 20 and September 1. Its error margin is +/- 3.3 percentage points.
