In this leak, Lenovo’s next ThinkBook appears incredibly slim. – Lenovo may have developed a new preoccupation with thinness. The word Aeroblade, which we have never seen before, is hidden in the files that Windows Latest obtained from marketing photos of an undisclosed Lenovo laptop. This might launch as the ThinkBook Aeroblade because the gadget itself is clearly marked as a ThinkBook.
If you’re not familiar, ThinkBook is designed for small and medium-sized enterprises who desire the ThinkPad appearance without the ThinkPad price tag. It is positioned somewhat below the premium ThinkPad lineup.
What distinguishes this ThinkBook from others?
Aeroblade appears to be a very typical ThinkBook at first glance. In addition to the standard ThinkBook logo on the palm rest, you get narrow bezels and a raised camera housing rather than a cutout into the display. However, a closer glance reveals that the keyboard’s keys are noticeably flatter than those we often see from Lenovo. If you’ve ever used a ThinkPad or ThinkBook, you should be aware of this because deep keypresses are essentially a Lenovo trademark.
The fascinating part is in the side profile. For the majority of its length, the chassis edge seems blade-thin, making it appear even thinner than the USB-C ports. Lenovo probably needed the extra space for its internals, which is why there is a small elevated area with two ports and a microphone hole. The dual-tone finish and elevated pill-shaped camera housing on the back continue the idea.
Is Lenovo really able to pull off this tiny design?
Performance and battery life are typically sacrificed by thin laptops, and it’s not unusual for them to run hot under load. However, chips have significantly improved. These days, becoming ultra-thin doesn’t always equate to a degraded laptop thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 series and Intel’s Panther Lake processors. Nevertheless, we are still unsure of the chip that Aeroblade will employ.
This year, Apple also plans to launch a new MacBook Ultra, with a strong emphasis on thinness in the design. It appears that the laptop cycle is once again shifting toward tiny and light laptops thanks to new, efficient CPUs. Hopefully, the shortcomings of their predecessors won’t affect these new ultra-thin laptops.
