Quick espresso over the go
Xiaomi unveiled a compact coffee machine with 20 bar power and up to 400 cups on an individual battery – Xiaomi has entered the market for portable coffee appliances with the release of a compact espresso maker under the Mijia brand. The battery-operated Mijia Portable Coffee Machine is designed for usage in offices, on vacation, or while camping.
The device may fit in a backpack or automobile cup holder thanks to its dimensions of 24.5 cm in height and 7.15 cm in width, which are similar to those of a typical vacuum flask.
It has a dual-compatible brewing chamber that can hold both ground coffee and proprietary capsules, and it has a 20-bar electromagnetic pump for coffee extraction.
Water is kept at 92°C (197°F) by using a PID algorithm in conjunction with a ceramic heating element. A normal brew cycle takes about 45 seconds, and the machine can perform both hot and cold extraction.
Three 2,500 mAh batteries provide power, with a total capacity of 7,500 mAh. It takes about 30 minutes to reach 80% charge and 80 minutes to reach full capacity while charging via USB-C at a maximum power of 45W. Additionally, it works with most portable power banks.
Each use case has a different battery performance. According to Xiaomi, the device can produce up to 400 cups each charge when preheated water is used instead of the inbuilt heater.
The output is drastically reduced to about 3 cups per charge when room-temperature water is used while the ceramic heater is operating.
The exterior is rated IP55 for protection to water and dust. The brewing chamber can be cleaned by removing it.
A carrying box, an aluminum alloy stand, an aluminum coffee basket, a scoop, and a double-walled stainless steel cup are among the accessories that are included.
