Ceramic, Specifications, and Release Date of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 – During its September hardware event, Apple debuted the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 today.
The faster S11 chip, additional fitness and health capabilities, and the watchOS 27 software upgrade that was unveiled at WWDC in June are all included in the new models, which nonetheless have the distinctive styles of their predecessors.
The updated S11 chip, which Apple claims offers quicker CPU and GPU performance along with enhanced Siri capabilities, powers both the Series 12 and Ultra 4. With a revised Health app that features a Longevity tab with new measures like Health Age and a Readiness score, Apple is also extending the smartwatch’s wellness-tracking suite.
Additionally, there is a new “Health Sensing System” with 32 electrodes for more precise readings (the Series 11 only had two), ring-shaped photodiodes for more effective light capture, and new LEDs that enable heart rate measurements to be taken every 5 seconds, providing you with a constant stream of heart data throughout the day.

The most notable feature of the Series 12 is the return of the ceramic case, which comes in nite blue and pearl white finishes. In 2016, Apple introduced a ceramic option with the Series 2, which was billed as a high-end substitute for the company’s long-retired 18-karat gold model. The ceramic shell was discontinued in 2020. Black, space gray aluminum, natural titanium, gold, and a new dark bronze hue are offered for the titanium and aluminum variants.
When the Series 12 goes on sale, owners of compatible Apple Watches will also have access to watchOS 27, which comes with the upgraded hardware. The new OS features a more powerful Siri AI driven by Apple Intelligence and upgrades the controversial Liquid Glass makeover on the wristwatch.
The new Siri Recap can translate and transcribe real-time talks for users, following the industry trend of AI-notetakers. In today’s demonstration film, Apple included a waitress at a restaurant reciting menu specials. The individual seated at the table was able to see what the server said on their Apple Watch screen by using the dial on their watch to scroll back through a transcript of the previous 15 seconds.
